Internet gambling and teens? Does it really happen? This article provides us with the answer to that question- Yes; A lot. Gambling, or as defined in this article, “This staking of something of potential financial value on an uncertain outcomeis very popular in teens and children in the US and Canada. This article is a report on a study conducted between the 1980’s and 1990’s that observed the affects of internet gambling on the average child and teenager. The study showed that gambling was negatively associated with socioeconomic and health in the subjects. It was also stated/ found after this study that the earlier one started gambling the more likely they will have serious gambling issues in the future. I thought these findings were very interesting and was eager to apply the same theories in the results to internet usage. Could we say that excessive internet usage also affects the health and socioeconomics of young adults? Or is it possible that the more or earlier we use the internet the more we will in the future? Is it possible that the internet is addictive? What does this mean for future generations?
