I just happened to open up the Yahoo homepage, and saw that Powell had endorsed Obama. I’m happy that Powell endorsed Obama, but I’m still reluctant to say that because of this endorsement Obama will win for sure. It’s reassuring that another person saw that McCain isn’t the best person for the job, but will it sway other Americans? Some Americans still can’t get passed Obama’s name, and some people believe that Obama isn’t an American and that he’s Muslim. I’m just wondering will we ever as a nation get past our racism and just accept someone on their qualifications not their race? You would think that by now that racism was a thing of the past, but time and time again we as a society show our predjudice. After 9/11 anyone that had a Middle Eastern background was thought of as Muslim and or a terrorist. During the Democratic primaries, people in West Virginia said flat out they wouldn’t vote for Obama if he got the nomination because he is black. I hope that we as a society and as a country can get past all our predjudices and pick a president who will improve this hetic economy and change Washington; not just perpetuate the same policies of the past eight years that have put our economy in this situation.

Colin Powell said so himself that the right answer to the question of obamas religion is that he is not Muslim, but the correct answer is why does it matter?
its been decades since race was an issue, and i hope that he does win, so that there will be proof that all people are equal and that someone who is not white can run the most powerful country better than someone who is white.

Colin Powell’s endorsement for Senator Barack Obama was the one of the greatest, if not the greatest endorsements I have ever heard. Everything Colin Powell had to say, regardless of the fact that he was part of the Bush administration was simply incredible. Many claim that this could be because Colin Powell and Senator Obama share the same race, however I do not think this is the case. I think this has an even bigger impact than Democrat Senator Lieberman endorsing a republican in Senator McCain, because Lieberan has often shown inconsistency in the past with which party he is loyal to. Regardless, Obama is going to be our next president and Colin Powell definitely contributed to helped getting him elected.
